How to choose the right lingerie size and avoid mistakes

Lingerie Guide

When choosing lingerie online, relying solely on size charts can be a bit unsettling. In addition to your regular clothing size, checking for elasticity, adjustable straps, set contents, and the silhouette visible in photos will make it easier to find the perfect piece for you.

What you should first look at is not just the numbers, but "what kind of fit it will be."

View the size chart as a "starting point"

The size chart on the product page is important, but it doesn't solely determine the fit. Even with the same one-size-fits-all, the impression changes depending on whether it has a lot of lace, is primarily mesh, or has adjustable straps or back sections.

If you're unsure, first see if it's close to your usual top or innerwear size, then check for elasticity and adjustable parts. If you dislike a constricting feel, it's reassuring to also look at thin straps and the position of the hooks.

Elasticity

Check whether the material is body-hugging or shape-defining. Look not only at photos but also at the material description.

Adjustable parts

Adjustable areas such as shoulder straps, back, ribbons, or garters make it easier to fit.

Set contents

What is shown in the photos, such as panties, stockings, or headbands, may not always be included in the set.

The thinness of the material and how light passes through it also affect how the size appears.

Look at "more than just the front" in photos

A front-view photo alone can make it difficult to ascertain strap placement, back opening, length, and the presence of accessories. If multiple photos are available, check the back, side, and detail photos as well.

Especially for bodysuits and babydolls, the length and how the waist area appears can change the impression. If you prefer a more modest look, it's easier to settle for colors that aren't too sheer or designs with a larger lace area.

If it's your first time, start with an adjustable style

If it's your first time choosing, opt for something that can be easily fine-tuned with straps or ribbons, has clear size descriptions, and clearly shows the set contents in photos. Conversely, for close-fitting bodysuits or very sheer designs, it's recommended to choose after thoroughly reviewing the photos and descriptions.

At Mioruna, we make it possible to check material, set contents, and shipping information on the product page as you choose. When you find a product you're interested in, compare differences in color and accessories.
